Q1939. UC-EMS: How to Save Lives (Session 1)
- Learn how to respond to life threatening emergencies with UChicago Emergency Medical Services! We'll go through the basics of treating bleeding, performing bystander CPR, and more so you are prepared for any worst case scenario.
X1938. Love Something to Threads: An Introduction to Visible Mending
- Clothes may rip and fray, that doesn't mean you should throw them away! A needle, thread, and some determination are all you need to repair an article of clothing you love or give a new look to one you don't. This crash course in visible mending will guide you through some of the basics of hand stitching your clothes back to life - no background in sewing necessary! You'll get some hands on experience and lots of inspiration - feel free to bring in a piece you own with a small hole or tear to work on!
- This foundational course on business management introduces high school students to the essential components of running a successful business. Covering key topics in financing, investing, and operational frameworks, basic accounting and metrics, students will gain a practical understanding of how businesses secure funding, allocate resources, and optimize day-to-day operations. Through real-world case studies and interactive discussions, participants will explore how these concepts apply to both startups and established companies. By the end of the course, students will have a clear grasp of fundamental business principles and the decision-making processes that drive successful enterprises.
- What makes a dinosaur a dinosaur? How did the dinosaurs die? This class will cover a broad history of dinosaurs and cool facts about them!

Block 3
- Senior Admissions Counselor Jane Hobson leads an information session and Q&A, providing guidance on the University of Chicago's undergraduate application process. Learn about the requirements, deadlines, and what makes a strong applicant.

- What actually is bread, and what does it say about the world we live in? Join in for a lecture on the microscopic world of biology & chemistry, to the broader systems of capital, all contained within a simple loaf on your table.
- A short workshop-style course where students will write and workshop a piece in the genre of their choice (fiction, poetry, drama, memoir, etc…) or get feedback on/develop existing pieces!
Block 3
C1941. Disrupting the Status Quo: A Journey Into Counterculture
- What does it mean to be a part of a culture or counterculture? This course serves as an introduction to the sociology of culture. Through engaging with lightly theoretical readings and example videos to learn about culture and counterculture, and in doing so, students will arrive at an understanding of what drives and breaches the underlying assumptions of everyday life.
- Giving advice and guidance about the college application process and financial aid
- Do you like honey? We'd guess Yes. Do you like swarms of angry insects? We'd guess No -- but this class might change that. UChicago's Harper Hives @ Phoenix Farms presents: a brief introduction to bee biology and urban beekeeping on the South Side! Come learn about hive leadership struggles, a worker bee's career trajectory, and what all the weird beekeeping tools we use are for (you'll have a chance to handle them yourselves!). Please note that there will be no live bees at this lesson.
- Have you ever watched the 1989 film, "The Truman Show?" We'll be talking about sense of self, what makes reality, and the meaning of rebellion. We will also put this movie into the context of social media and discuss its implications.
Block 4
M1944. Visualizing Math: Desmos Made Easy
- Want to learn math and have fun!? Desmos is an easy tool for visualizing math. In this short course, you'll learn how to graph equations, play with sliders, and experiment with functions in 3D! There will be time to explore and get hands-on experience with the online tool. No prior experience is needed! Bring your laptop! 🚀
- This course will over go some of the basic dos and don'ts when going camping and how to best be prepared in the outdoors. With some hands on activities and personal tips for camping/backpacking, this course welcomes anyone hoping to learn more about proper practices when interacting with the great outdoors.
- Join UChicago Med-ucate to learn about human physiology and vital through a case study format. We'll be learning about using stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, and more!
- Can a song change the world? Since the beginning of time, songs have been used as a medium for protest and a call for justice. This course explores the impact of some of the most well-known lyrics in facilitating political change in America. Join us to discuss the works of prolific singers and songwriters, including Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Kendrick Lamar.
