Linux is appearing everywhere: it's on everything from high-end cellphones to cheap WalMart laptops to high-performance Web servers. But, what exactly is Linux? In the first half of the course, we'll look at it technically: why it's cool, and why it's so powerful and flexible. In the second half, we'll take a look at a Linux desktop system and learn how to use it.
