Brief Biographical Sketch:

Hi, I'm Alex. I'm a first year student at the University of Chicago, hoping to major in the History, Philosophy, and Social Studies of Science and Medicine (HIPS, thank the lord). I have a broad range of interests, from tabletop RPGs to spending a lot of time on the Internet. I listen to cool bands that you like and only we have heard of, high five NBA players (regularly), and I also enjoy long, moonlit walks on the beach, romantic candlelit dinners, and deep, meaningful conversations about our hopes, dreams, values and goals.

L666: Exploring Webcomics in Splash! Fall 2010 (Oct. 02, 2010)

We will read and examine comics of all kinds on the internet, otherwise known as webcomics: from inventive, traditional, bad, and excellent webcomics. Comics will be examined on terms of humorousness, intent, and joke structure, so that the students will be able to appreciate comics from a casual reader's perspective as well as a deep analytical perspective.
