Brief Biographical Sketch:

Hello! My name is emily howe, and I am a senior at the University of Chicago majoring in Environmental Studies and Philosophy. I grew up in a small town in North Carolina and decided I needed a change of pace for college, so I ended up at UChicago!

Ironically, I didn't become interested in agriculture until I was in Chicago and began learning about urban farming. The summer after my second year, I had a farming & research internship at City Farm, an urban farm located on the border of the Old Town & Cabrini Green neighborhoods in Chicago. On only one acre, the farm supplies local citizens and restaurants with about 15,000 pounds of fresh produce a year! I'm really intrigued by the community aspect of farming because food brings people together and can help strengthen struggling neighborhoods. I hope to share some of my passion for food and agriculture because gardening is simple, satisfying, and delicious!

Some of my other interests include music, ethics, traveling, interior design, crafting, and just having a good time. I hope to see you soon!
