C1783: Philosophy as Seen on TV in Droplet Winter 2020 (Feb. 08, 2020)
We will be looking at the ideologies of several western thinkers (such as Immanuel Kant, John Stuart Mill, Friedrich Nietzsche, and others) while considering how they would analyze certain moral and ethical dilemmas. These dilemmas will be taken from scenes from popular Disney, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network shows, or common situations students might find themselves in.

We will be looking at some of Western society's most influential thinkers, Immanuel Kant, Friedrich Nietzsche, and John Stuart Mill. We will explore daily ethical dilemmas, and explore how these philosophers might approach solving them. These moral quandaries will be taken from television shows like those that aired on Nickelodeon and the Cartoon Network.


H1729: Basketball Analytics in Splash Spring Splash 2018 (May. 05, 2018)
We'll be looking at how teams, journalists, and fans alike use basic statistics, more sophisticated analytics, and the eye-test to evaluate basketball teams and players, specifically in the NBA. We'll talk about different analyses can lead to wildly different conclusions, and how these different conclusions can impact the success of NBA teams.
