C1027: Minorities: Who Are They? in Splash! Fall 2012 (Oct. 06, 2012)
This class will guide a group of lucky students through an introduction of ethnic minorities in China, and the challenges they face in a country where they are only 8% of the total population. With 55 different groups, there's a lot to relish: Tibetans on their plateau, Uighur Muslims at home amidst brutal deserts, Miao people adorned in colorful garbs amidst the sultry southern provinces of Guizhou and Sichuan. Sign up and on Sunday get informed about these fascinating, dignified, but little-known groups of people.

A919: Art in Your Hands: A Workshop in Cascade! Winter 2012 (Jan. 24, 2012)
Have you ever felt restrained by art class in high school? Left with the feeling of just wanting to put pen to paper, hands to work, or actions on film? Despair no more. In this course, students will make dynamic, instinctive pieces of art under loose oversight of two co-teachers over a fast-paced, rapidly evolving 5 weeks. Students will be taught the basics of certain art mediums such as collage and video art, and will be heavily encouraged to bring their own expertise into the fold for others in the classroom. By the end of this course, every students will have completed a final art project using a medium that they have learned from either a peer or a co-teacher.

A785: Nonsens Mooziik in Splash! Fall 2011 (Oct. 01, 2011)
Come and drop some tunes!!! In this class, students will use pieces of junk to create self-made musical instruments of ingenuity and wonder. Using their new instrument, they will then compose and perform a short musical composition. Orthodox instruments such as guitars and keyboards will be provided, but students will be encouraged to go through the creative process starting from junk, to instrument, to playing an instrument that was formerly just junk. COLLABORATION IS ENCOURAGED!
