Brief Biographical Sketch:

Matt Zakosek is a graduate of the University of Chicago and an aspiring young-adult writer.

He reviewed "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" for the Chicago Sun-Times on July 22, 2007. (He liked it!) As the Voices (Arts & Entertainment) Editor of the Chicago Maroon, he interviewed "Juno" director Jason Reitman, comedian Margaret Cho, and Nobel Peace Prize-winner Al Gore.

Matt works in the Before- and After-School programs at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools.

Naima Bond will co-teach this class. She is a graduate of Oberlin College and a former assistant teacher at the Catherine Cook School. She was also trained at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

A206: Authors and Illustrators in Splash! 2008 (Oct. 04, 2008)
In this fun class, we'll reintroduce you to your favorite kids' books and teach you about some cool new ones. Whether you like graphic novels or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, this is the class for you. We'll look at the illustrations of Brett Helquist, who worked on the Lemony Snicket series, and Leo and Diane Dillon. We will end with a chance for you to write and draw your own story!
