Volunteer
Splash! Chicago

Splash!

Splash is our one-day fall program held on the first Saturday in May (May 2nd). High school students from all over Chicago (and beyond!) come to the UChicago campus to take short classes, in all different subject areas, designed and taught by UChicago students.

Volunteers are needed for nearly everything!

  • Morning registration + check-in (8:30–9:30) has to process a large number of students quickly.

  • Lunch (12:30–2:30) will similarly see large numbers of students and teachers.

  • Teachers will have questions when they check-in, and some teachers may need to be reminded of the logistics! Many will need help with classrooms, projectors, or supplies.

  • Substitutes will be needed in case a teacher has an emergency and cannot teach.

  • Students will need help finding classes.

  • Parents will have questions to answer.

  • All of our preparations will need setting up and eventually cleaning up.

To make all of this happen, we could really use your help! The earlier we know how many volunteers we can have, the easier it is for us to plan things. So if you have some time free that day, we'd really appreciate whatever you can spare!

Droplet

Droplet is our new one-day program, held one Saturday in the spring. Droplet 2014 will take place on Saturday, May 3. High school students from all over Chicago come to the UChicago campus to take classes in all different subject areas with a hands-on theme, designed and taught by UChicago students. Volunteers are most needed at registration, and helping students find classes.

Cascade

Cascade is our five-week program, held Fall and Winter quarters on Tuesdays, 4th through 8th weeks. High school students from all over Chicago come to the UChicago campus to take five-week classes in all different subject areas, designed and taught by UChicago students.

Volunteers are most needed for setup (3:30–5pm), dinner (6–6:30pm), and escorting students between Harper and Cobb.
