Brief Biographical Sketch:
I have always found science to be interesting. I decided on a chemistry major because I really enjoy observing and understanding the world on a microscopic level. Chemistry is also in between and thus allows me to dabble in both biology and physics. I've ballroom danced since second grade. I really enjoy doing it and sometimes wish I had more time for it. I joined the archery team at UChicago this year. I think archery is a great sport. Not only does it teach me new skills but it's always a fun way to relieve stress. The physics behind non-Newtonian fluids, fluids that don't respond to applied forces like water does, (such as cornstarch suspended in water, commonly known as oobleck) is still somewhat of a mystery. There is an entire sub-field of physics dedicated to making it less of an enigma! Come listen to a couple of undergrads ramble about soft condensed matter physics and make/play with some oobleck!
